Adamawa State Fiscal Responsibility Commission

Welcome to Adamawa State Fiscal Responsibility Commission

The Adamawa State Fiscal Responsibility Commission is a statutory body established in 2013, following the enactment of the Adamawa State Fiscal Responsibility Commission law. The Commission was created as part of the government’s ongoing commitment to entrench transparency, accountability, and prudence in the management of public finances across the State.

The Commission serves as an independent fiscal oversight institution responsible for promoting sound financial governance by ensuring that public revenue, expenditure, and debt are managed responsibly and sustainably in accordance with the law.

The Commission operates under the authority of the Adamawa State Fiscal Responsibility Commission law 2013 which provides a comprehensive legal framework for fiscal governance in the State. The law aligns with the broader goals of the national Fiscal Responsibility Act, while being tailored to reflect the specific socio-economic and fiscal realities of Adamawa State.

The law empowers the Commission to enforce fiscal rules, recommend sanctions for violations, and advise the government on fiscal policy matters, debt sustainability, and financial transparency.

The Commission is headed by an Executive Chairman, appointed by the Governor of Adamawa State and confirmed by the State House of Assembly. The Executive Chairman leads a team of Commissioners and senior technical staff with extensive expertise in economics, public finance, law, and administration.

Under the leadership of the Executive Chairman, the Commission remains dedicated to fostering a culture of fiscal responsibility, public accountability, and institutional integrity, in line with the reform agenda of the State Government.
